Dr. Claud Anderson, is president of PowerNomics Corporation of America, a corporation that is involved in major business development, primarily in inner cities, across the country.The word PowerNomics® represents a
social-political-economic package of principles and strategies developed by Dr. Anderson to help make Black America a more self-sufficient and competitive group. His latest book, PowerNomics: The National Plan to Empower Black America sets forth a five year national plan in education,
economics, politics and outlines a new role for Black religious organizations. His ideas have begun to ignite a national movement of reform among blacks.
Dr. Anderson has drawn the nation's attention to the advantages of redeveloping and industrializing black communities. Dr. Anderson has begun a seafood factory project aimed at urban locations in the United States. He is one of the few blacks to take a company public.
Widely recognized as one of America's most influential intellectuals and authors, Dr. Anderson has popularized Black history. His book, Black Labor, White Wealth: A Search for Power and Economic Justice, is the foundation for the programs, policies, and research solutions of The Harvest Institute, a nationally recognized black think tank, of which he is president. He lectures frequently to business groups, universities, churches and social organizations on the economic, social and political solutions he proposes. He is a regular guest on radio and television talk shows.
Dr. Anderson has a broad and varied base of experiences spanning education, business, federal and state politics and successful social reform. During integration, he served as State Coordinator of Education for Governor Reubin Askew of Florida. While serving in that capacity, he founded the State Action Council, a coalition of black leaders for political action in Florida. Dr. Anderson, appointed by former President Jimmy Carter, served as Assistant Secretary in the U.S. Department of Commerce where he headed the Coastal Plains Regional Commission and funded and directed economic development activities for governors in the Southeastern states. He was executive director of two economic development corporations for the city of Miami, Florida. As special assistant to the 1988 Democratic Convention, he awarded 37% of the contracts to blacks, a record that has not been reached or broken.
Dr. Anderson's books are widely read throughout the United States, particularly by African-Americans. His book, Dirty Little Secrets About Black History, Its Heroes and Other Troublemakers has been rated one of the top five best selling books in black America by Essence Magazine, BET, and Blackboard. Black Labor, White Wealth , his first book, released in 1994, was a long time best seller and continues to be popular. His third book, PowerNomics: The National Plan to Empower Black America,was released in February 2001 and was on the Detroit Free Press best seller list by March. On the Essence Best Seller List, PowerNomics: The National Plan is # 1. His other two books are also in the top 10.
